Safer Soaps and the FDA Ban

Just a few weeks ago, the FDA announced a ban on 19 ingredients commonly found in anti-bacterial bar soaps. The ban has been a long time coming, as evidence linking these ingredients to potential health concerns like hormone disruption and muscle weakness has been out for some time now.

Companies currently using these ingredients now have one year to remove them from their formulations. (Meaning they are still sitting on store shelves nationwide as we speak. Scary, huh?) Keep in mind that the ban applies only to bar soaps, but not to hand soap or body wash - so these suspect chemicals could still be lurking in other types of soap products!

You can check here to view the full list of banned ingredients. The most common among them are triclosan and triclocarban (both of which were in the soap I formerly used before starting my clean beauty journey - yikes!)  If you find any of these nasty ingredients lurking in your household soaps, never fear! Here are a few of our favorite soaps, containing nothing but carefully curated, pure ingredients!
